This page explains what personal data meow.ch handles, why, and what you can ask for. Meow LLC, Rue du Carroz 2, 1071 Chexbres, Switzerland, is responsible for it. Questions go to privacy@meow.ch.

Visiting the site

The servers that deliver the site, in Switzerland, receive what every website receives: your IP address, your browser and the page you ask for. This is used to send you the pages and to keep the site secure. It is not used to profile you and is not combined with other data.

One cookie, preferredLang, remembers the language you chose, for one year. When you load a model in an AI demo, your browser keeps the model files in its cache so they don't download again. If you take the self-check on the home page, your answers are kept in your browser's storage so the call preparation form can start from them; they reach Meow only if you send that form. You can clear both in your browser's settings.

The AI demos in your browser

The demos on the home and security pages run the model inside your browser. The text you type or edit is processed on your device and is not sent to Meow or anyone else. To run, a demo downloads the model files from Hugging Face and part of its code from GitHub, both based in the United States. Like any download, those services see your IP address and browser, but not what you type.

Booking a call

To book the free 15-minute call you give your name and email address, a phone number if you choose a phone call, and the time you picked. Meow first sends an email to that address with a link: the booking goes ahead only when you open it and press “Confirm my call”, so nobody can book a call in someone else's name. If you don't confirm, the booking is not sent to Meow and the link stops working after 2 hours. Once you confirm, your details are used to arrange and hold the call: they are sent by email to Meow and to you, with a calendar invite. The day and time of a confirmed call are also kept in a database on the site's server in Switzerland, without your name or address, so nobody else can book the same time. You can then add details to prepare the call (your field, the size of your team, your company and what the call should cover); these are sent by email to Meow only.

To keep automated bookings out, your browser solves a small calculation before the form is sent; it uses nothing about you. The server checks that the domain of your email address can receive mail. To limit abuse, your IP address is kept in the server's memory for 24 hours and your email address for 30 days; neither is written anywhere.

Sending a message

The message form sends your name, email address, company, phone number and message to Meow by email. No confirmation is emailed to the address you typed; the page confirms that the message arrived, and the reply comes from Meow. To keep out spam:

  • Before the form is sent, your browser solves a small calculation; it uses nothing about you. The server checks that the domain of your email address can receive mail.
  • Your IP address and email address are kept in the server's memory for 24 hours, to limit repeated messages, and are not written anywhere.
  • A message the filters mark as spam may be kept in a log on the server, with your IP address and browser details, so that similar spam is recognised.

Guides by email

To receive the kit that comes with a guide, you give your email address. Meow first sends a confirmation link to that address: nothing is kept until you open it and press “Send me the kit”, so nobody can put someone else's address on the list, and the link stops working after 24 hours. Once you confirm, Meow keeps your email address, the language, the guide you asked for, the kind of firm it is written for and the time you confirmed, in a database on its servers in Switzerland. They are used to send you the kit and new guides from time to time, and for nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and using it deletes your address from the list.

Who else handles your data

  • Infomaniak, in Switzerland, hosts the site and carries its email.
  • Hugging Face and GitHub, only if you load a model in a demo.

Meow does not sell personal data and does not use it for advertising. It discloses data only when the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Emails about a call or a message are kept as long as they are needed to answer you and follow up, and are deleted when you ask, unless the law requires keeping them. An address on the guide list stays there until you unsubscribe or ask Meow to remove it.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, and the GDPR if you live in the European Union, you can ask to see the data Meow holds about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Write to privacy@meow.ch. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the European Union, to your country's data protection authority.

When the site starts handling data differently, this page is updated, with a new date at the top.
